Super-GripTM Bidirectional Serration

Specifically designed for NC turning centers, Superior's Super-GripTM bidirectional collet pads feature serration lands which penetrate the work for a positive gripping action. This unique and exclusive pyramid configuration provides equal gripping force along the spindle axis in both forward and reverse spindle rotation. It also assures smooth bar feeding while precluding "push back" resulting from the cutting forces. Super-GripTM collet pads are ideally suited for exotic or hard materials such as inconel, stainless...and many others.

Turret Lathe Pads

Identified by the largest diameter being in the middle separating two ground diameters of equal size. Threaded holes in the periphery of the middle diameter are used to secure the pads to the master collet. These pads were originally used on turret lathes, thus their name. Today, turret lathe pads are commonly used with collet chucks and collet pad top jaws.

Pros:

bulletReadily available from several manufacturers.
bulletIdeal design for collet pad top jaws.

Cons:

bulletSometimes required to remove master collet to change pads.

Explanation of  Superior Part Numbers

Superior part numbers are in the form:

XXXX-XXX-XXXX

The first four digits represent the series number. The middle three describe the ID as follows:

  200 - Round Smooth

  201 - Round Serrated

  202 - Hex Smooth

  203 - Square Smooth

  204 - Hex Serrated

  205 - Square Serrated

  206 - Soft Emergency

The last four digits represents  the size number which can be determined by multiplying the decimal equivalent of the size in inches by 1000.

For example,

1026-203-1250

is a 1-1/4", square smooth,  series 1026 collet pad.
