Q. Sometimes you answer the phone "Positrol". What's the deal?

A. Superior-Cincinnati is a division of Positrol.

Q. Does Superior have a minimum dollar order?

A. No.

Q. Is there a quantity discount?

A. No, however there is a 10% discount on round smooth Warner and Swasey turret lathe pads when you purchasing a range  from 1/2" to the capacity of the pad in 1/8" increments. 15% on a range in 1/16" increments.

Q. Can items ordered in error be returned?

A. Yes provided they haven't been used and are a stock item. There is a restocking charge if you don't order a replacement.

Q.  Pads come in sets of 2, 3 or 4 segments. Is the published list price a per-segment price or a set price?

A. Set price.

Q. May I order directly from Superior or must I purchase through a dealer? 

A. You can order either way - whichever is most convenient. If you don't have credit with us, it is faster to purchase from your local dealer where you have established credit.

Q. Can pads be made of materials other than hardened steel?

A. Pads can be made of soft steel, bronze, delrin, cast iron and other materials.

Q. Can an emergency pad be hardened?

A. Yes. Emergency pads are made of AISI 8620 steel and may be carbonitrided to a depth of .020".

Q. Can pads be manufactured to grip rectangles and special shapes?

A. Yes.

Q. What is the concentricity of collet pads?

A. .001" Total Indicator Reading (TIR) at the face between ground Outside Diameters (OD)  and Inside Diameter (ID) . For hexes, squares, rectangles and special shapes - .005" TIR.

Q. Can "S" Style pads be used in top jaws? 

A. We recommend only turret lathe pads for top jaw applications.
